Field Trip #16

During this week I got to try something new. I tried eyebrow waxing. I tried on my mom's eye browns and she said that it did not hurt at all. That she did not notice which eye brown I did. I was please that Marti got to show me something new and she also explain to me the procedures as to waxing and the consequences if you wax the same spot twice. I did like to wax and look forward to do it again.

Field trip #15

Well, this Tuesday I went really early and was wating for Marti. She was late again and I observed the second part of a perm. She came in until 11:30 a.m. and was in a hurry because she had people waiting for her. She did not ahve any time for me but I still got to learned something new. I feel that everytime that I go she does not have time for me any more. She was close to me before but now she leaves me to fly solo. She will show me once and then I have to do it. She tells me that I learn fast and I also do it correctly. She bought me my clippers and two combs. one is for highlights and the other one I still do not know. Marti also gave me clipper cleaner and a brush to clean my clippers went I use it.

Field Trip #14

Tuesday April 6, 2010, I went to see my sponsor as always and she was there (hurray!!!!!)

I was excited for to today, I wanted to be surprise and at the end I was.

Marti, came in en minutes late, and told one of the girls there that I had to observed them until she acme in. I did as I was told and both of the girls were excited to see me since we did not see each other often. When she came in she call me to the office and started to talk to me like she was mad or something. (she was talking as a teacher). She said that the lesson for today was going to be highlights!!. We took the mannequin out and she was looking for gel. She said that we need to practice first and then I will be aloud to use real hair coloring. She explain the procedure and i follow her as she did it. I was nervous because this would be my first time doing it, I have only watched them get done. I tried first with a short hair mannequin and then with a long hair mannequin. She asked some questions about how I felt about highlights and I answer that I love highlights but in long hair it takes more practice than in shorter hair. At the end I rised out both of the mannequins and clean up all the mest that I did. I was excited and could not wait to tell my mom about my day.

Field Trip #13

On, April 1, 2010 I went to see my sponsor and she was there. She also apologize for not being there on Tuesday and she was embarrassed because she did not call me to let me know that she was not going to be there at 11 a.m.
Thursday, I was there at five and Marti was waiting for. I convince two friends of mine, to let me trim their hair. Both of my friends agreed and I worked my magic. They were pleased and i was happy as well. Marti did not helped me that much as before because she was busy with her clients. I left at 7:45 p.m. Before I walked out one of Marti co-workers started to talk to me about her career as a hairstylist. About how she enjoys being one and working as well.
In conclusion, I was happy that I got to do something instead of just watching and starting to be involved. I can not waite until Tuesday.

Field Trip # 12

Today I went to see my sponsor and SHE WAS NOT THERE. I was mad because she did not even told me before hand that she was not going to be there. The worse thing is that I can even say anything to her because she is doing me a favor by being my sponsor. The good thing was that I got a change to be with my self and think of everything that I have pass through my life. the good things and as well as the bad things, of how I have made mistakes and learned from them as well.

Field Trip # 11

Today I visited my sponsor. I left after seven period, had to pick up my baby and my mom had to baby sit. Today I trim my sister's ("Gaby") hair. I also blow dry her hair as well. I got to see a costumer mad, because one of the girls did not perform her job correctly. She did not cut a boy's hair as how his mom wanted it. I hurry up and left because I did not wanted to see the customer mad. I was scared if I every go through that scenario. I was happy that I did everything without the help of Marti. At the end of the trim, she observed and toke some pictures, and she also check everything of how I trim my sister's hair. I was glad to go back to the salon.

Field Trip #10

Like everyone knows, I have a sprain ankle. :( I still need to see a orthopedic doctor and he will decide of how long I will be able to walk again with out the crutches. I call Marti yesturday, I told her about the situation. She sounded worried but she wants me back soon. SO ,for the mean time I will be doing some research about my topic. I will not be able to go to the Cutting Crew. I do dnot like this at all!!!

Field Trip-- 9

Today Thursday. I went on a field trip. My sponsor and I went to different beauty stores. In two of the stores we went to was for license stylers' or students only. On the first one, we did not buy anything, so we went to Cherry Hill Mall and behind the mall, there was a beauty supply store and we bought the cape, some lotions, and hair clippers. We also went to the Cherry Hill Beauty Supply and there I bought my apron, a blow dryer , and finally a Chi Ceramic Hairstyling Iron. All together I spend over $100.00 dollars. I was excited to get my supplies together for my presentation at the end of the year. Field Trip ---8

Today during my field trip, I had my highlights done again, and this time I did like them and was pleased with them. Marti and I, talked about our field trip for tomorrow and
I was excited as well as her. The products would be great and I will get to keep them! She told me that we have to start thinking about the products that we will be needing and probably starting to buy them as well. I did like ended my sponsor visit today.

Field Trip --7

Wednesday is my field trip to my sponsor. I was excited since I was going to get highlights done!!!. Like always, I greeted my sponsor and the other employees. I told my sponsor about the plans that I had in mind. About the field trip that I wanted her and me to go. The field trip consisted of going to different stores and creat a butged for my future presentation. That butged would include everything that I will need for my final presentation day.

Marti agreed and was excited as well.

She had a few cuatomers waiting for her, so she told my highlights would have to wait until one of the other girls can in to work(that will be around 2 o'clock. I waiting until then, on the mean time, she had me performed on a maniquin a hair do. She told me how she wanted, but like always I do not follow directions and I started imagine a hair do.

I breaded the hair on the bottom and did some twist to the hair that was left.

She was surprise with the finish product. Marylyn, walked in and was time for me to get my hightlights. I wrote down all of the ingredients and how to performed it as well.(at the end I will tell you)

We were finish and I receive a call from my sister, Gaby.

She informed me that my brother-in-law wanted ME to cut his hair.

I told Marti about it and she said yes. Ernesto, chose the designed that he liked and I did my magic. I did get some help and everything else it was on my own. The hair cut came out really good and Ernesto was happy with the job I performed.

It was time for to go and she filled out my paper like always. I was there from 12:30-5:45 p.m.

Ingredients:

Choose your color.

You will need foil, the desire color, a comb.

Mix the color, some volume so the color can penetrate.

Sit in a chair.(Do not wash your hair at all or the color would not penetrate)

Divide the hair in four sections.

Grab small pieces of hair and place they on the foil. Apply the color and close the foil tight.

Repeate the process until the mix runs out or when desired.

Sit for 30 minutes. So the mixture would penetrate your hair.

After the time is up wash and blow dry .

You are finish.

Field Trip-- 6

During this week I went to see my sponsor. I did not have a ride ,so I had to walk and take the bus. When I was walking ,I got to think about everything that I have learned with my sponsor. I was surprise of how many things I have learned. I got there at 12:45 p.m. Marti was coloring the hair a women and I imediately watched the procedure to color hair. It took Marti around 30 minutes to finish applying the color and then about 45 minutes to dry and wash out the color. The color came out excellent. Anaita in the other hand, was doing a cut in boy,I watch every single step and she explained everything that she was doing and why. Then Marti and I went to the back and show me how to perfornmed a hair do. I read two books and they explained every step. I grab a maniquin and started to work my magic. I was finish and everyone came to see what I had done. Everyone was cheking it and telling me how to do it better. Lucy, was the last one to came(she always look mad) nad told em that it was ok but ti could be better. I told her that it was my first try, I did get upset ,but sudently she hug me and told be that perfection would came over many tries. For the first time she gave me a smile and told me that I'm starting to be part of their hair crew salon.I was pleased to hear that. Lter at night, I gave my boyfriend a hair cut and it came out good. I was surprise of how good it came out.

Field Trip --5

Last Wednesday,I meet with my sponsor, she was excited to know that I in did decided to trim my hair and get a new style, also I was scared to not like the final result. We also talked about my research paper and of how normal actions can cuase major problems, some examples were, that you can wash your hair every other day ,because you wash away nautral oils and you do not let those oils get through your hair. Another one, is if you have a perm done to your hair and your hair is not healthy then you will harm your hair really bad also, if you get a perm done and follow by another one it will harm your hair and it will casue your hair to fall out. The last things that we talked about was about coloring your hair or just doing highlights, some of the color will penetrate your scalp and casue manjor problems to your hair, but that is reare, it only really happens between one million people(not sure about the number).
Finally, my sponsor told me that she will help me research for my reaseach paper, also she wants to do perform a perm and highlights in my hair, she does not charge me but I still give her money for the great shoj she does.

Field Trip-- 4

Today was my day for my field trip. I could not called my sponsor ,because I acciendenty lost her phone number. As I was trap in my house because of the snow and my daughter sleeped really good, I had a change to read a book called ,BOBBI BROWN TEENAGE BEAUTY by Bobbie Brown and Annerie Iverson. When I was reading I notice that you do not need to wear so much make up. A girl is always beutiful. Also you do not need to stress over so many things becasue you are still in high school. A qoute that I like in the book was "My idea of the perfect make over is to make a girl prettier, naturally.'' This book helped me understand better of how a person can apply make up better and correctly.

Field Trip -==3

During my third visit, I was really excited I got to do so many things. The first hing that I was to get out of school early and when to get my daughter and MY MOM!. After that, I had to meet with my sponsor at 1:15 pm. So, I arrive in time and only waited for my mom to came up the stairs. I shoopom my mom's hair. then I trim my her hair evenly. My sponsor only watched what was I doing. If i did something wrong she would tell me(that only happen two times!!).
After that, I watched my sponsor waxing my mom's eyebrows. The next time I will do it to her.
My mom was nervous, but I think that I accomplish my first goal.

Field Trip #2 1/13/2010

Every second that I'm with my sponsor I learn so much from her. On my last visit (1/13/2010), I did so many things. The first thing, was to shampoo the hair of a mannequin. Marti ,my sponsor, show me how to shampoo the correct way, to not let water run into the ears or the shampoo. Yes, I did trim the hair of the mannequin.(that was really exciting !!!!) I did not trimmed so much hair ,because I wanted to keep on trimming later on. I did watched techniques used on the customers and even borrow a DVD to watched at home. I did not really liked the DVD, but still watched any way. All the girls were helpful and told me about schools that I might enjoy and would do some researched. They also told me how to be friendly with customers and to understand them better. I told my sponsor about The Kick Off Event that we will be having. (She was excited about the event). Mrs. Nefferdorf my mentor said that she will be late or either on time. I'm looking forward for my next visit.!!:')

Field Trip -- 1

1/6/10

Today was my 1st visit to to my sponsor. My sponsor's name is MARTI RAMOS (she is not a relative).She is the manager at Hair Crew. The first thing that I did was to get to know everyone that was around. Lucy was one of the girls that I meet(a nice person). She told me her story of how she got involved in cosmetology. The first thing she told me was men would not go in a salon, rather they would go to a barber shop. Also,if we wanted to work at a baber shop, we would have to earn a certificate for that(there were different certificates for working at a salon, a baber shop, and manicure and pedicure).Back in the 60's the blow dryer was not used. They first started as shampo grils and greeding the customers. Anita was another of the girls that worked that day(would always smile and a very nice person). She explained everything, every single step that she did with the customer. She was also fun to be with and she even told me her age!. She has been working at a salon for 40 years. They had different kind of Shompos' and gels' for different kinds of hair. Hair Crew is consider a Paul Mitchell salon.

GETTING A SPONSOR

YESTURDAY, I HAD TO WORK SO I TOLD MY BOSS ABOUT SENIOR PROGRAM SEMINAR, HE DID NOT KNOW WHAT WAS I TALKING ABOUT. LATER ON, I EXPLAIN THE PROGRAM AND HE ALLOW ME AND GAVE PERMISSION FOR ME TO GO ONCE OR TWICE DURING THE WEEK AND LEARN HOW TO COOK MEXICAN FOOD!!!.
