Today!! :') :')

My mentor told me to change how I do my hair. (In reality, I have not done it) Nothing happen to me today, but yesterday it was the day that I saw different styles. I was shopping for baby formula and some household items. One guy was wearing a real long hair and it was all straight. Then, there was a girl that had her hair smooth, but at the same it was curly. On the top, she had a big red flower, with blues and yellow. Next to flower, there was a green rose, with black spots. Many people were staring at her and some kids were laughing at her. That made me think that I will try something new and probably will enjoy it.

"Kick of Event"

Last night, it was our "Kick of Event" in Lindenwold High. I had to introduce my future final project and also tell everyone who was my family, mentor and sponsor. A course, my mom was there and my daughter too, not to mention my boyfriend. Unfortunate, my sponsor could not make it and neither one of the other sponsors' were there and that made me sad, because they were not showing support. Well, after all we had our teachers and families their to support us. In general, the mentors were excited and we were too!. We are just with this whole adventure and I hope that this program would open the doors for everyone.

The country has not recuperated from the devastated catastrophic event and now another one was felt. They need food, medical assistance and a house to live. Many people died last week and now more are dead because of the new earthquake. Haiti is passing a horrible, terrible month. They are poor and now they need the most help, they need everyone.

Things that I'm doing to improve a life? Well, sincerely I'm not doing anything. The only thing that I'm doing is to stop working so I can spend more time with my daughter. She needs my attention and especially my love. I think that I am assuming responsabilities and knowing what are my limits. That I need time with my family, I also need to work. Help support my daughter or at least help in the house with some money. I need to a be mom, a student, and a house keeper and finally be a worker.

Weekend Growth/General Knowledge

During these weekend, I did not visited any place new. The only thing that I did learned was how to be more responsible. Now I know, that I have to stay home when my daughter is sick. It was a horrible decision that I made. I really wanted to go shopping and I went, but my daughter was sick and I had to returned home immediately. I did not got a chance to look for anything and that was really a waste of time. By the time I got home, I needed to get ready to go to work. My boyfriend toke care of her and waited until I returned from work.

Every second that I'm with my sponsor I learn so much from her. On my last visit (1/13/2010), I did so many things. The first thing, was to shampoo the hair of a mannequin. Marti ,my sponsor, show me how to shampoo the correct way, to not let water run into the ears or the shampoo. Yes, I did trim the hair of the mannequin.(that was really exciting !!!!) I did not trimmed so much hair ,because I wanted to keep on trimming later on. I did watched techniques used on the customers and even borrow a DVD to watched at home. I did not really liked the DVD, but still watched any way. All the girls were helpful and told me about schools that I might enjoy and would do some researched. They also told me how to be friendly with customers and to understand them better. I told my sponsor about The Kick Off Event that we will be having. (She was excited about the event). Mrs. Nefferdorf my mentor said that she will be late or either on time. I'm looking forward for my next visit.!!:')

Just yesterday I was a purveyor for my sister. I listen to her and gave advise about babies. She now knows how to handle the crying and fusing a baby. She was having a hard time not knowing what to do or how to handle the crying of the baby. It's now that that hard time comes to play. They start to roll back and cry for nothing even if you yell near them. They stat to eat more and they always want to play with you. They even do not like to be left alone. All that I did was to help her and let her know that I was here with her.

What I learn from books or magazines is different from what I learned in school.
There are differnt ways to learn and newspapers are the best way to try to learn somethinig new. When I was reading this articel, it made me think if I wanted to go in cosmetology. The true answer is YES, and you know why? Is because I want to be near people and to try to emake people feel good about themselves. Therefore, I want to be involved in cosmetology and you learn every day something new.

Weekend Growth

During this weekend, I worked and had to finish my make up work. I was working and that was when a mother of triples walks in the restaurant. The thing that impress me a lot was that she really toke care of the babies and even clean up after them. When I asked her how can she do it all by her self, was when she told me that she did not have anybody and the dad of the babies worked all day. She wanted to have her mom near, but her mom was in another state. After that talked, I realized that I had a previlage. My mom was near me and helps me with my baby. I also did not finish all my work ,but did the best that I could.

H&M and Wal-Mart destroy and trash unsold goods

I was in yahoo checking my email. It was then that I saw this article. Of how Wal-Mart and H&M were destroying clothes. The bags of trash included shoes, jackets, and other kind of clothes. They were cut with scissors. All of the clothes were merchandise not sold, but the worse thing was not donating the clothes to charity. The clothes were put in trash bags and left outside for people to find or to be troutout away. Wal-Mart acted surprise and did not admit of what they did, in the other hand H&M admitted the act and promise to donate the clothes to charity. I do not understand how can they act that way, with so many people that are poor and they need that clothes.

1/6/10

Today was my 1st visit to to my sponsor. My sponsor's name is MARTI RAMOS (she is not a relative). She is the manager at Hair Crew. The first thing that I did was to get to know everyone that was around. Lucy was one of the girls that I meet(a nice person). She told me her story of how she got involved in cosmetology. The first thing she told me was men would not go in a salon, rather they would go to a barber shop. Also,if we wanted to work at a baber shop, we would have to earn a certificate for that(there were different certificates for working at a salon, a baber shop, and manicure and pedicure).Back in the 60's the blow dryer was not used. They first started as shampo grils and greeding the customers. Anita was another of the girls that worked that day(would always smile and a very nice person). She explained everything, every single step that she did with the customer. She was also fun to be with and she even told me her age!. She has been working at a salon for 40 years. They had different kind of Shompos' and gels' for different kinds of hair. Hair Crew is consider a Paul Mitchell salon.
